New and exciting work by Jason deCaires Taylor

As you all know by now, we’re huge fans of Jason deCaires Taylor (previous). Jason’s back with a huge new piece off the western coastline of New Providence in Nassau, Bahamas. The piece is titled ‘Ocean Atlas’ and it is an 18-foot-tall female sculpture who appears to be holding the surface of the sea on her shoulders. Like all of his work, the cement used for the sculpture is a pH-neutral material that encourages new coral growth and forms an artificial reef. The piece was commissioned by B.R.E.E.F (Bahamas Reef Environmental Educational Foundation) with the aim to relieve pressure on already stressed reefs.
