Paintings on vintage books by Ekaterina Panikanova

The work of Russian artist, Ekaterina Panikanova exists somewhere between painting and sculpture. She creates large mosaics on the wall using old books and then paints images on the pages inspired by the book’s content. Images of deer, birds, and baked goods consistently show up in her work, but they’re usually broken up like fragmented memories. Ekaterina has a new show at Sara Zarin Gallery in Rome titled Crepuscoli (Twilights), which runs through February 7th.
